As humans, the pursuit of change and progress is something that is innate to every one of us. Like it or not, there will always be things in life that we hope could be a little different, a little better in the way that daily situations & events turn out. It could be in the way we think, speak, or the way we handle everything from our finances to our relationships with others. We seek to become better -- and we should. As we strive to continuously exceed our potential, we rise above all previous versions of ourselves and grow stronger. In this issue, we look at some ways in which we can embrace a better self and an even better future.

The Relentless Pursuit of Improvement

It is no secret that I believe growth is the only guarantee that tomorrow will be better. It is no mystery that I think personal growth is the steppingstone to success for any leader. If you or I want to stay in front of the curve and lead others, then we must do the work that keeps us out front. We must continually improve. But as I seek to improve, there is one thing I know not to chase, and that is perfection. Perfection is a trap. Do not chase perfection as a leader - chase improvement. Make today better than yesterday so tomorrow can be better than today. The relentless pursuit of improvement will take any leader far.

You can directly reduce the envy itself, or you can at least reduce the bad choices you make as a result of envy. Here are seven strategies I use to cut envy out of my own life.

Worked with Grace in her previous job and she always had a friendly demeanour, which makes it easy to share my concerns. Through proper understanding, she assists to recommend and does not push products. She has been very helpful with my policies, assisting me thoroughly in areas I had queries about with the company. She also reaches out actively to ensure I am updated on my policies, which is a welcomed change from my previous consultants. Highly committed to her work, I would recommend Grace to anyone who needs advice planned in their best interests.

Upon my first encounter with Grace, I was immediately struck by her approachable and amiable nature. She took great care to explain the fundamentals of financial planning and the nuances of various policies with remarkable patience. Prior to suggesting any relevant products, she took considerable effort to comprehend my present circumstances, needs, goals, and future plans. Engaging her as my financial consultant has been an absolutely rewarding decision, and I have no cause for regret.

Shu Yu (Lawyer)

I have known Grace for a long time as a fellow aerialist, and never once has she bothered me to purchase anything from her. From time to time, I would pop up out of the blue and ask her random questions on a particular insurance-related topic, and she has always given me her time and answered my questions (even as a non-client). Today, we spoke about purchasing a Personal Accident plan for myself. Actually, I was pretty much prepared to simply purchase this myself on Prudential’s website and indicate her as the advisor serving me. I was surprised that Grace wanted to bring me through this personally given that it is a fairly straightforward policy (and therefore a “lower value” one for her in terms of earnings). Our conversation ended up being more than 1 hour! I appreciate the detail and care which Grace put into her presentation of the policy options, and the efficiency in which the purchase was effected (I barely had to do anything, it was great). She took a position as to what was and was not suitable or recommended, and explained it very well. I left feeling that I had made a considered purchase and did not feel pressured or overwhelmed at any point in the process. Another point of note for those considering Grace to act as your financial advisor: she’s been in the field for a while and is a consistent top performer at Pru, which means that she is probably less likely to quit the company/field and leave you hanging!
